Phase 2 · Innovation

Turning Oman's natural waste into bio-based materials

ViroMelt's long-term vision is to convert Oman's natural waste streams into locally produced bio-based materials, creating new value from natural residues while supporting the Sultanate's circular-economy transition.

The opportunity

From local waste to strategic value

Natural waste is currently a disposal cost. With the right processing, it can become a valuable input for locally made bio-based materials.

Local

Natural waste

Abundant, renewable feedstock available within Oman.

Circular

Waste to value

Turning a current disposal cost into a material input.

Domestic

Reduced import reliance

Building a locally sourced materials supply chain.

Future

Material innovation

Advancing locally sourced bio-based materials over time.

The vision

A closed loop, made in Oman

Our long-term vision is a fully circular system within Oman — turning local natural waste into bio-based materials and returning nutrients to the soil, in support of Oman's circular-economy goals.

The closed loop

Waste → value → soil → growth

Circular-economy cycle: plants and agricultural residues, plant-based biopolymers, biopolymer conversion, manufacturing, products, and composting.
Illustrative material lifecycle. Compostability and biodegradation depend on the product, its format and the disposal environment, and are subject to applicable standards and certifications.
  1. 01

    Natural waste

Local agricultural residues collected from Omani farms.

  2. 02

    Bioprocessing

Residues converted into bio-based material resins.

  3. 03

    Manufacturing

Resins converted into finished products in Oman.

  4. 04

    Composting

Products fully mineralize to CO₂, water and biomass under appropriate conditions.

  5. 05

    Soil enrichment

Compost returns nutrients to agricultural land — closing the loop.
